EXPERIENCE
ITALLIAN HISTORY

espresso
machine
exhibit

In collaboration with our partners, FAEMA, the MuMac (Museo Della Macchina Per Caffe) has kindly installed a rotating exhibit of historic espresso machines on loan from the museum based in Milan, Italy.

Come for a latte and stay to explore this history of espresso as told through the various stages of mechanical technology that constantly evolved to create more crema, fuller flavor, and the ultimate expression of Italian coffee culture, the macchina.

Currently on Exhibit

FAEMA Saturno 1948

Large machine fitted with two boilers to enable it to handle large consumption demands. Perfect for train stations or cafés in town centers. The bronze and brass used to mean it weighs a considerable amount. It is probable that the model on display at MUMAC is the only one in existence anywhere in the world.

FAEMA Tartaruga 1960

This machine featured two boilers, one of which was used exclusively to emit steam. The pump and flanged groups were kept at the right temperature by water rather than steam, hence the name Adjusted Thermal Heating (TRR). The machine was named Tartaruga. After some modifications, it became the famous E61

La Pavoni 1940

One of the original patented designs of the vertical style espresso machine. This machine was manufactured in the FAEMA production line in collaboration with Pavoni.

FAEMA Tronic - 1980

Electronic coffee machine with automatic control and programmable dosage. Body in steel and Makrolon. Designed by Ettore Sottsass and Aldo Cibic to mark the inauguration of the new Faema production cycle.
